Effective 1 January 2016, Turpin Distribution will be Brill’s global distributor for journal subscriptions and books in print. Orders of journal subscriptions and print books should be directed to:

Does Turpin Distribution handle both print and electronic products?

As of 1 January 2016, Turpin will handle journal subscriptions and print book orders for Brill worldwide.

How long will it take for my order to be dispatched once the order is received?

Book orders of available titles will be shipped within 8 working days.

Will the warehouse also be moving?

Yes, as of 1 January 2016, Turpin Distribution will outsource warehousing and print-on-demand (POD) services to Bookmasters, based in Ashland, Ohio, for Brill customers based in the Americas. We have taken measures to move stock and make POD titles available accordingly to minimize any inconvenience to customers throughout the transition.

If I am a customer based outside of North and South America, will anything change?

No, Turpin Distribution will continue to be Brill’s distributor for regions outside of the Americas. Nothing will change for customers based here.

Will I be keeping the same account number?

No, your account number will change. However, you do not need your old account number in order to contact our customer service team with queries. if you cite your old account number when contacting our customer service team regarding questions, they will be able to identify your account and answer any questions you might have. Will the tax ID number stay the same?

Yes, the Tax ID number will remain the same.

Who is responsible for content activation issues?

All sales of online resources will continue to be handled by Brill’s sales team (sales-us@brill.com for customers in the Americas, and sales-nl@brill.com for customers outside the Americas). Any electronic access queries may be sent to brillonline@brill.com

I am a bookseller: Will my conditions remain unchanged?

Yes, all agreed upon conditions will remain in effect.

When will print titles be shipped to me?

Book orders of available titles will be shipped within 8 working days. All orders received by December 28th, 2015 will be shipped this year, as far as inventory is available.

Any orders placed as of 1 January 2016 cannot be processed until 4 January 2016. As a result, invoices for orders placed on or after 1 January will not be sent until 4 January, at the earliest.

What do I need to keep in mind regarding orders sent in December 2015?

In order to prevent any interruption of fulfilment of POD titles from 15 December - 31 December, POD orders will be fulfilled by Turpin Distribution in place of Books International. That means orders placed during this two week period may be invoiced by two parties (Turpin Distribution for POD titles, and Books International for off-set printed titles).

I place orders via electronic data interface (EDI). Will my EDI information be transferred to Turpin Distribution without any interruption?

If you are an EDI customer, Turpin Distribution will be in contact to ensure your EDI channel is transferred and operational as of 1 January 2016.

Will my journal subscription be fulfilled without interruption?

Any subscriptions that have not been cancelled or did not expired will continue to be fulfilled without interruption.

Will backorders and standing order be transferred from Books International to Turpin Distribution?

Yes, all backorders and standing orders will be transferred to Turpin Distribution and will be fulfilled once the title has published or become available.

Book returns will be accepted in re-saleable condition.  Stickered books are not considered saleable.  Authorization to return is not required if returned within 12 months of purchase.  We request from our account holders that prior notification be given to BRILL for bulk returns.

Full credit will be issued when original invoice number and date are provided. Otherwise credit will be issued at the lowest applicable discount off the original list price.  Shortages and damaged goods should be reported within ten (10) days.  For claims against titles which have already been invoiced, please always mention:

  1. Invoice number and date
  2. Customer number

Claims are to be made within three months after the invoice date.
