Licensing Options

Brill offers two licensing options for its online publications:

Single Institution Subscription License

•   Annual subscriptions: For our e-journals, most of our online reference works and some primary sources we offer a subscription option. The subscription year follows the calendar year. However, in the first year online subscriptions can start at any time during the year, with a corresponding pro-rated subscription price (except for single e-journal subscriptions which are paid per annual volume).
• No Archival Rights: Please note that in general the annual subscription model does not offer archival rights, therefore online access ceases upon cancellation of a subscription (the exception is the single e-journal subscription which gives archival rights to all volumes subscribed to since 2000).
• Subscription License: For online subscriptions a license is needed (except for single e-journal subscriptions).

Outright Purchase License Single Institution
 

• Outright purchases: For our e-book collections, online journal archives, most of our online reference works and primary sources an Outright Purchases option is available with a one-time fee.
• Full Archival Rights: With the Outright Purchase libraries is acquiring full archival rights to the content.
• Instalment Fee:  A number of our online publications are being expanded and/or updated every year. In these cases an annual Installment Fee will be applicable with your Outright Purchase. The fee is payable from the year following the year of your purchase. An example of titles with Installment Fee include Index Islamicus Online, Encyclopaedia of Islam Online, Pauly Online, Hague Academy Collected Courses Online, International Yearbook and Statesmen's Who's Who Online, World Christian Database Online, Human Rights Documents Online, Art Sales Catalogues Online.
