Kam Wing Chan is Professor of Geography at University of Washington. His research focuses on China’s urbanization, migration, and the household registration system. He has recently served as a consultant for the United Nations, World Bank, and McKinsey & Co.
William Lavely is Associate Professor of International Studies and Sociology, University of Washington. He has published articles on China’s fertility, marriage and family, sex ratios, historical demography, and demographic data.
