Steve Hayward, CFA,

Previous Experience: Hayward joined Stein Roe from M &
I Investment Management Corporation in Milwaukee, Wis., where since 1993 he

Marshall Small-Cap Growth Fund with combined assets totaling $492 million. Prior
to that, he was a senior portfolio manager at Amoco Corporation where he managed
several large equity portfolios. His other experience includes portfolio
management responsibilities at Integrated Resources Asset Manager and American
Asset Capital Management, as well as research responsibilities at Harris Bank
and Trust.
Bill Garrison, vice
president for Stein Roe & Farnham, serves as portfolio manager for Stein Roe
Small Company Growth Fund and Stein Roe Small Company Growth, Variable Series,
and as Co-portfolio manager of the Liberty Tax-Managed Aggressive Growth Fund.
Birthplace: 12/29/65 in Lawrenceville, IL.
Education: BA economics, Princeton University; MBA,
University of Chicago.
Previous Experience: Garrison joined Stein Roe as an
economic research assistant in 1989 and then was an equity research analyst from
1993 to 1999, primarily covering the energy and utility industries, before being
named to his current position.
