Herman Pabbruwe, Chief Executive

Herman Pabbruwe graduated from Leiden University (History of Art). His first job was in museum management and city planning before he joined Kluwer Academic Publishers (KAP) in 1982. Leading to his appointment as the President of KAP in 1994, he was responsible for global distribution, IT, marketing, sales and customer relations. In 1996 he was appointed CEO of Wolters Kluwer’s Law Division in the Netherlands. From 1999 through 2001 Herman was the CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health and Science, operating from Philadelphia. During 2002 and 2003 he was an independent consultant in Washington DC and non executive director of several technology companies in the USA. In 2004 Herman joined Brill as its CEO. Throughout his career Herman served on the boards of a number of industry associations and committees such as ECIDIS, STM, IPRO, NUV/UVW and CLIR.

Steve Dane, Executive Vice-President sales and marketing and President of Brill USA

Steve Dane received a Bachelor of Arts degree (Philosophy & Religion) from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. He began his lengthy publishing career in 1972 with Addison-Wesley’s Higher Education and International Divisions where he held a number of positions including Midwest Regional Sales Manager, Managing Director of Addison-Wesley Australia, and Publisher, Business & Decision Sciences. Steve joined BRILL in 2004 as Senior Vice-President, General Manager, responsible for global sales and marketing and managing the Brill USA offices in Boston. Before that he served as Senior Vice-President, General Manager, of Kluwer Academic Publishers until the company merged with Springer Science and Business Media in 2004.

Perry Moree, Executive Vice-President finance and operations

Perry Moree studied History and Economics at Leiden University and got his PhD degree in Maritime History in 1998. Before joining Brill in 2010 as CFO and Vice President Finance & Operations, he was Director of Finance and Corporate Services of the National Library of the Netherlands (KB) in The Hague. Before that he worked as teacher of Economics in The Hague, Financial Manager of two Dutch trading companies in Rotterdam and Head of Finance of the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam. He is an active author and editor, specializing in the history of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and Dutch fishery history. Perry is the current chairman of the management and marketing section of IFLA.
