After Your Book is Printed
When the advance copies have been approved at Brill, the entire print run will be shipped to our distributors’ warehouses in the UK and the USA. After about 10 working days your book will be available and officially considered in print. Your complimentary copies will be sent out from the UK. Please make sure that the address we have for you is also the address where you would like to receive your copies.
Review Copies
Offers for review copies will be sent out to the journals on the review lists, and in some cases review copies will be sent out immediately. Other journals may request review copies via our website or through reviews [at] brill [dot] com. Requests for review copies, unless in response to an offer made by the press, are at the Acquisitions Editor’s discretion.
Author Flyers and Conference Discounts
You will also be sent a PDF of a special flyer for your book. You can print this out and distribute it within your own network or post it at conferences you may attend. As an author you are in the best position to market your book directly to your peers, and we are happy to offer special pricing of your book at conferences and other meetings you will be attending but where Brill cannot be represented otherwise. Do let your Acquisitions Editor or Assistant Editor know well in advance of such events so that arrangements can be made.
Author Discounts
As author you are entitled to a discount - often up to 35% on any books published by Brill (different discounts apply for journals and electronic products). You may order books directly from our distributors or through our website. Please always create your role as "Author" when ordering in Brill's webshop so our distributors are alerted to the fact that you state you are a Brill author in your order. They will then verify your status with us after they receive your order and apply a discount. If you keep us up-to-date of your email address you will also receive additional discounts in special author offers we may have throughout the year.
Marketing and Sales
Brill markets and sells its publications worldwide. We have a team of sales managers who deal with book trade partners and visit libraries. Our books are sold through all the major library suppliers, Amazon.com, they may be ordered by any one through our website or directly from one of our distributors. Brill participates in Google Book Search allowing limited previews of copyrighted material and offering direct links to the Brill website and those of other vendors.
Marketing starts as soon as we have all the materials necessary, including a reliable estimate of the number of pages and the list price. About 4 months before publication we will list your book in our Forthcoming Publications, an important medium for our trade partners who will then start promoting your book to their client base. Your book will be added to our online catalogue, title information will be fed through data streams to our trade partners, it will be announced in our printed catalogues and in our E-bulletins.
